July 16

Yesterday we went gingue brothers farm. I had a great time because i love animals and because I have a farm of mi own in a town near bogota called Melgar were you can see cows, horses,etc. I talked to the owner and he told me really cool facts, for example he told me that they sell the milk for around 1.50 dollars and that then the markets sell it for around 4 dollars. He also told that there are around 400 cows and that each of them produce 10 gallons of milk a day. I really liked the far and to see how the milk the cows but i really didnt like the smell. Farms in Colombia are not that advanced and dont produce that much milk a day. Then we went to fairfax recreation path, I went to the river. It was really funny because we tried to swim against the waters flow and i felt i was drowning, also I walked without shoes so it hurt a lot to walk in the river. When we went to the river i remembered the time I went t the river with mi family and we had a lot of fun. I had a great time and enjoyed with mi friends.

July 11 farming in colombia

Agriculture in Colombia is a major economic activity which provides a large percent of tke nations economi. Colombias major products for exportacion are its famous coffe, its beutiful flowers, potatos,among other things. Cattle is also important for the national self sustenabiliy. My favorite food is ajiaco which is a soup with potatoes, a especial plant called guasca, chicken,etc. Its my favorite dish since I was a baby because my grandma cooks itwonderfully.

July 9, scavanger hunt and COTS

Today we went to our first field trip, we went to a shelter called COTS. At firsty was a little bored but then I noticed it was actualy a good experience to get to know how do poor people have to live in this country. When we entered I felt weird to see how lucky I am to have all these benefits other people dont have. Although I expected worst living conditions they lived in a really small space and that shocked me. After COTS we went to do a scavanger hunt and it was really fun. We had to find different things and facts. Although it was difficult to find the things we had to find it was pretty fun and I had a great time and learn really cool facts about things like ben y jerrys and the cathedral

July 4 - Independence Day

Yesterday we went to lake Champlain, when we arrived there was a lot of people and I was surprised the amount of persons the were on the lake and I senced a feeling of patrotism from part of the americans. In Colombia we celebrate the independence day on july 20th.When the fireworks started it was awsome to see  the different effects and cool things they could do with the fireworkslike creating happy faces or planets. On that day there is a huge parade in a park called parque Simon Bolivar made by many people including the armed forces,etc. In Colombia there is a great feeling of patriotism too but people dont gather in a public there like they did here

My name is Gustavo De La Hoz and I am 17 years old, I was born on Bogota, Colombia. On my free time I like to play soccer, watch movies with my sisters and play with my french bulldog calles Horacio Fernado. I love to listen to music, go to the gym and exercise ever day. My favorite type of food is italian food and y very much love my country and every thing that is in it, its people,its food and its beutiful women.
